HARDY CLIMBING HYDRANGEA: Hydrangea anomala petiolaris is a vigorous deciduous vine originally from Japan. Dark green, glossy heart-shaped foliage is covered with large white clusters of hydrangea flowers in late May - early June. A very attractive vine for covering a wall, fence, or large tree. In sun or shade (afternoon shade is required in the Deep South and in western Zones 9 and 10) and in moist but well-drained soil, it will eventually grow to 35ft or more. Very cold hardy, climbing hydrangea or Hydrangea anomala petiolaris thrives in USDA zones 4-8. This vine is grown and shipped in a 1 gallon nursery trade container on a stake for support.
