Mentha x piperita 'French Peppermint' is a wonderfully easy garden herb to grow. This very attractive herb with medium green leaves is extremely hardy to zone 3. French Peppermint has the best clean flavor of any of the mints making this the perfect herb for culinary, cosmetic and medicinal uses. French Peppermint will readily make itself at home in full sun to partial shade in moist soil. Most gardeners don't have any trouble growing it, but it can get away from you if you are not careful. We recommend growing all mints in a contained area or planting them in a large pot in the ground. All mints perform best when they are harvested or cut back at regular intervals. Remove old woody plants to allow newer, younger plants to fill in. At the end of the growing season cut French Peppermint plants back to ground level.
